Asateacher,Ialwaysbelievethattheeducationofchildrenisnotonlytheresponsibilityofparentsbutalsotheresponsibilityofteachers.Inmymanyyearsofteaching,Ihavehadtheprivilegeofmeetingmanystudentsandtheirfamilies,eachwiththeirownuniquechallengesandstrengths.However,thereisoneparticularstudentthatIwillalwaysremember.

HernamewasLily,andshewasaquietandshygirlwhostruggledacademically.Herparentswerehardworkinganddedicatedindividualswhowantednothingmorethantoprovidefortheirdaughter.TheyworkedlonghoursattheirjobsandoftenhadtorelyonrelativestotakecareofLily.Despitetheirefforts,Lilywasfallingbehindinschoolandwasatriskoffailing.
